Vivo X80 Pro comes to Germany on June 15th

The former BBK subsidiary Vivo is making things exciting again with the Vivo X80 Pro. Whereby basically only the price in this country is unknown. If the Chinese manufacturer has already presented the complete series in its home country, there were only two models in India recently. In this country and also in the other European countries, only the Pro model will remain and that on June 15, 2022, as the group has now announced.

Vivo X80 Pro launch event

Vivo has now invited German press representatives to a launch event for the Vivo X80 Pro in Berlin. And the headline is already known: It is Wednesday, June 15th, when the group wants to present the smartphone, which has been known since April 25th, in Germany. And while traditionally only the Vivo X80 Pro remains of the actual trio in this country, we are still quite grateful. Because the predecessor didn’t want to be sold to us in Europe.

After the smartphone has already had a few stops with April 25th in China, May 8th in Malaysia and the start of sales on May 25th in India, there has also been a certain change. This basically only affects the built-in processor. If the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 octa-core processor is installed in China, the Vivo X80 Pro in this country is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC (System on a Chip). In a direct benchmark, it was said that the MediaTek was clearly the faster chip. The colleague from TradingShenzhen*, who already has both models on offer, reports marginal differences.

Specifications of the ultimate flagship camera

Vivo X80 Pro

The flagship smartphone will probably not be available with such a large selection of memories as in China. We suspect a combination of 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of internal UFS 3.1 program storage. According to the “smartphone blogger” (who is not a blogger but a YouTuber), the display is supposed to be sensational. We have shown his review video below. It is a 6.78-inch 3rd generation LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels (QHD+) at 517 ppi. The refresh rate is of course 120 Hertz and the maximum brightness is 1,300 nits. The front camera in the top center offers a resolution of 32 megapixels.

However, the faster and significantly larger Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display causes a lot of excitement (see video). In my opinion, the highlight of the IP68 certified Vivo X80 Pro is the quad camera on the back. In the past, Vivo was able to play the trump cards in this area through cooperation with the German optics specialist ZEISS. And so it seems that this time we have once again succeeded in setting new standards.

Vivo V1 for the Win!

The technical facts are a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.57 &OIS), a 48-megapixel ultra wide-angle, a 12-megapixel portrait and an 8-megapixel periscope camera with optical stabilization, and a 5x lossless camera Enlargement. I will find out by June 15 at the latest whether a gimbal will be installed again. In any case, the in-house V1 image chip is used, from which we expect a lot, especially when it comes to night photography.

To round off the technical data, the built-in stereo speakers and the 4,700 mAh battery should also be mentioned. This can be connected to a fork via the supplied 80 watt power supply unit and charged wirelessly with a maximum of 50 watts. As mentioned at the beginning, we are still missing a price. The estimated 5,999 yuan in China – i.e. almost 850 euros – is unlikely to be the case. In India it was already 79,999 rupees, which translates to 980 euros. So you should prepare yourself for 1,099 euros in this country. Or? What do you all mean?
