Independent developer Room C Games, in co-production with Croteam and in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil, is pleased to announce that its rogue-lite RPG The Hand of Merlin has left Steam Early Access today on PC and PlayStation 4 , PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The console versions start with all eight important updates of the PC version.

The Hand of Merlin is a turn-based villain RPG where the Arthurian legend collides with dark sci-fi horror. This unusual fusion of genres brings a totally unique sci-fi element to the narrative. In squad and turn-based combat, players can tactically use cover, set ambushes, and coordinate attacks with ranged, melee, and spell combat to defeat both human and otherworldly hideous creatures and other enemy characters they encounter on their quest .

The Hand of Merlin takes players on a journey from Albion to Jerusalem to explore rich medieval lands on the brink of apocalypse – attacked by an otherworldly evil in a story inspired by Jonas Kyratzes (The Talos Principle, Serious Sam 4) and Verena Kyratzes (The Lands of Dream, Serious Sam 4) was developed.

The Hand of Merlin is a game in which players must make new decisions as they progress through the lands of Albion, Marca Hispanica and al-Andalus. Adventurers must also strike a good balance when weighing the risk and reward of the paths they choose.

What players take with them on their journey is crucial, as battles are inevitable. They can upgrade weapons and armor by trading in nearby towns, or they can roam further and trade with hermit artisans in the wilderness. Renown is the backbone of progression in The Hand of Merlin and can be used to level up the party’s heroes, and players can choose between a random selection of new abilities or improved attributes to balance their party’s fighting power.

Since entering Early Access in May 2021, The Hand of Merlin has received eight major updates on its way to version 1.0, which have offered players a variety of gameplay options, including random party building, new epic quest lines, meta -Progression, passive skills, alternative maps and different difficulty modes. One of these latest updates includes “Endless Mode,” a brand new way to play with a new biome, complete with 20 unique new combat cards and a way for players to learn spells and tank up on Hard Mode+ run modifiers. Taken together, these eight updates offer a comprehensive set of features designed to improve the overall gaming experience for RPG fans.

“Throughout the Early Access period, we’ve put a lot of time and energy into community feedback and made a number of updates that have really improved the gameplay features and replayability of the game based on what the community has been telling us . Said Robert Sajko, Creative Director at Room C Games.
