Marvin Stefaniak will wear the jersey of FC Erzgebirge Aue in the future. For him, Saxony is his home and provided a fitting example for his move.

Aue/Dresden – “I like working with players who are put in a drawer, but also justified because at some point they no longer performed as well as they can. An exciting personality. If he works, he is a difference player.” That says FC Erzgebirge Aue-Trainer Timo Rost (43) about his New signing Marvin Stefaniak (27).

There he sits in front of you, the 27-year-old, calm, humble, almost reserved. He gives up the stance during the conversation when he feels more secure. He appears more mature than in previous years, appears to have been refined due to his difficult last few years.

Stefaniak played 122 games for Dynamo Dresden in five seasons, was one of the big promotion heroes in 2016, and then played a second division season that made you laugh. In 2017 he went to Wolfsburg – and luck left him, also due to bad luck with injuries.

He didn’t make a game for VfL, and he wasn’t happy on his loan spells in Nuremberg, Fürth and Dresden. Not recently in Würzburg either.

So why now Aue? “My family and the Saxon region. That’s my homeland,” Stefaniak replies and brings up a comparison: “A Netto employee is unemployed. Nobody can tell me that they’d rather sit on the couch at home. I’ll sign it I’d rather go to Aldi or Lidl. I want to play football and help the team.”

The coach was also a reason that thinks highly of him. “I’ll be honest. It was a vigorous conversation with the coach. I didn’t let myself be pressured. He wanted to test my reaction. He now knows how I work through my experiences. I’ve learned a lot through my descent and read, I’ve never been so fit mentally or physically.”

He read Ashley Lippert’s “Aladin Principle”. That helped him get back on track. Don’t look back, only forward.

In order to concentrate fully on Aue, Stefaniak will move to the region. The fact that he was accepted in the Ore Mountains was evident on Sunday at the start. Of all the newcomers, he got the biggest round of applause. “I really enjoyed that.”

If he becomes the desired difference player, he will have to get used to it.
