NINTENDO SWITCH 2

Nintendo Switch 2 is likely to be the new generation of consoles from the publisher from Japan, and in our commentary we reveal which games Nintendo absolutely needs to publish.

There are already several models of Nintendo Switch, a Pro version is probably no longer planned, so fans and industry experts are looking to the next generation of consoles, which we are calling Nintendo Switch 2 for the time being. The final name will certainly be different.

Likewise, the built-in hardware will certainly be different and, above all, more powerful, so fans have long wanted better performance, such as 4K resolution and smoother frame rates.

With the Switch 2, Nintendo can once again develop graphically impressive games and we think this is the chance to finally revive well-known game brands from the publisher that have already won many fan hearts on the N64 or Gamecube.

Wave Race

The desire for a new jet ski racing game in the Wave Race series is particularly strong. Nintendo last released Wave Race: Blue Storm for Gamecube in 2001 and the colorful racer is still a lot of fun with unique wave physics, action-packed gameplay and local multiplayer for up to four players.

It’s long overdue for Wave Race to make a comeback, especially since the rendering of water and waves could look fantastic with current graphics engines. If Nintendo equips the Switch 2 with powerful hardware, a new wave rave could be an absolute dream.

F Zero

Another racing game we’d like to see on a new console is F-Zero. The futuristic racer impresses with a unique setting, a crisp soundtrack and, above all, with a fairly high speed and a smooth frame rate.

If Wave Race is too slow for you, you should definitely take a look at F-Zero GX (Gamecube, 2003). As with all the titles presented in this article, this game also has local multiplayer for up to four players – unfortunately this is a rarity in more recent games.

1080

That’s another reason why we love 1080. The snowboard series offers a charming presentation, a cool soundtrack, varied courses and fun gameplay.

You already noticed in the character selection of 1080 Avalanche (Gamecube, 2003) that characters from Wave Race are selectable, like Akari Hayami or Rob Haywood.

Beach Spikers

But since we don’t just want to show racing games, no matter how good they are, we also present you Beach Spikers. The volleyball game for the Gamecube from 2003 was published by Sega, so it’s not directly from Nintendo.

But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s also a real multiplayer gem for the Gamecube and we hope that this unique title will return, gladly on the Nintendo Switch 2.

No matter what time of year you play Beach Spikers, there’s always a summer feeling and because volleyball games with good gameplay are rare, you should definitely check them out.

It will be a while before a new Nintendo console is released. Previous forecasts consider a release in 2024 to be possible. If new editions or sequels of the games presented above should come, you will of course also find them in our game release list.
