My tip of the week: Cyberpunk 2077
Written by insideindyhomes

What is “My tip of the week”? This is a personal series of mine where I plan to tip once a week. It is usually a “product” that I am currently actively involved with and which I would like to recommend here.

It can be a series, it can be a video on YouTube, it can be a game, headphones, a car, a bracelet, an activity, an app, anything. And it doesn’t have to be up to date, sometimes I’ll even recommend very old things.

Welcome to the first issue.

My tip of the week: Cyberpunk 2077

When Cyberpunk 2077 came out, I got a review code from CD Project Red for the Xbox. But I was wondering why the codes for the consoles only came on the release day. We all know what happened then.

I have to say that it was still reasonably good on the Xbox Series X. But not the way I wanted to experience it, so I waited. But the next-gen patch didn’t come and it was too busy fixing bugs.

I’ll be honest: Cyberpunk 2077 should have taken another year and shouldn’t have been released for the old consoles. Finally, in February, the next-gen patch came and I got a new code – for the Sony PlayStation 5.

Why didn’t I play the Xbox version? That’s another topic coming up in a few days. the DualSense controller plays the crucial role.

But how is Cyberpunk 2077 doing now? I watched the game not only on the PS5, but also on the Xbox and I have to say: Good. I only had two small bugs while playing through, but they didn’t disturb the gameplay.

In terms of graphics, I was hoping for a little more from the next-gen patch, but the game looks good, has an incredible amount of detail (which is now also displayed when you’re further away) and delivers a great atmosphere through the music.

But my highlight was the story, which plays like a movie with Keanu Reeves. It is really well implemented, varied and motivated. It’s not the best story ever for me, but it’s better than I expected.

Cyberpunk 2077 headers

Cyberpunk 2077 no longer costs 30 euros, which is a more than fair price. I’ve often seen the 20 euros and now and then the game is even available for 10 euros. That’s ridiculously little money for such an extensive game.

The management of CD Project Red screwed it up, they made sure that an excellent game got such a bad reputation through unnecessary time pressure. One can only hope that those responsible are no longer responsible.

So my tip for this week is this: If you were excited about the game when it released but skipped it, check out Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe you also (like me) checked it out and then ignored it after 2-3 hours. I get it, I felt the same way. But after a lot of updates this is a really great game now.
