Gran Turismo 7 is one of the flagship game titles of the PlayStation 5 and captivates gamers equally on the DualSense as well as on the steering wheel. As we noted back in March, the vehicles available to purchase in Gran Turismo 7 just seem overpriced to us. If you don’t have much time, you can buy one or the other vehicle with real money, but this quickly amounts to around 200 euros for a 20 million vehicle. Surely every gamer is free to “invest” his money here or to be able to buy the vehicles in the game round after round with the prize money won.
As the makers of Polyphony Digital have emphasized several times, they want to keep the prices authentic to the current world market and a rare vehicle costs a lot of money. The legendary dealer looks to the American company Hagerty, which prepares reports for rare vehicles and thus also determines their price.
As has now become known, Polyphony Digital is planning a new price orientation in August, which seems to be of an unknown magnitude, since prices are given in the game that seem inappropriate for a full-price title. Gamers can only acquire the vehicles over countless hours and rounds or even through very cheeky real money investments of up to 20,000 euros (equivalent to 2 billion in-game credits) for just a single vehicle. It should be noted here that this is still a game for the PlayStation 5 and not a free-2-play game on the PC market – In the PlayStation Store, gamers can quickly buy 2 million credits for 19.99 euros, which then makes 20,000 euros for a 2 billion car. Every Gran Turismo 7 player knows roughly how many races he would have to do for this money. One can only hope that casual gamers can also enjoy all the cars to the full and that Sony and Polyphony Digital are rethinking their policy on the game, because not everyone here has time to pursue GT7 as a full-time job or a distant relative in Dubai Has.
We find the mere possibility that this type of game content can be purchased at such a high rate very questionable. Unfortunately, it is not known what the limit for credits in the PlayStation Store is or whether there is a restriction on the purchase of in-game credits for Gran Turismo 7.
