Microsoft is testing redesign for OneNote on Windows
Written by insideindyhomes

Microsoft is currently testing a new design for the OneNote app with Office Insiders. As announced, the new design aims to unify the version installed with Office and the OneNote app available in the store. The new version should also lay the basis for integration into the overall system of windows 11 optically better to insert – accordingly, other OneNote apps are left out.

The new version in the Windows 11 design relies on an updated navigation area. The full screen mode, sidebar and tabs as well as the notebook drop-down also get a new coat of paint. You rely on the mica effect of the Windows 11 theme. In short: In addition to rounded corners, the animations have also been updated and the ribbon simplified.

The drawing tab is now similar to the drawing tools in the other Office apps Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It brings new features like shapes, rulers and a text conversion feature. In addition: The support of the vibration module of the Surface Slim Pen seems to be advanced with the new update, which is supposed to give a more natural writing experience – which can now also be found in the new OneNote app. It is planned to focus more on the pen: Ink Replay and Pen Focus View are only the tip of the flagpole. Surely you will also let your experiences with the writing app “Microsoft Journal” flow in there.

Also: Pages can now be sorted: by creation date, modification date or alphabetically. Sharing should be easier, as is inserting pictures using the Windows Camera app. You still have to integrate one or the other feature of the Windows 10 app into the new main app, you haven’t made any progress there and there isn’t a precise schedule for this yet.

Microsoft urgently advises all users of the respective OneNote apps not to uninstall them immediately, as they are already working on a solution, to prepare existing notebooks, etc. for the switch to the uniform app. You have to see how it looks in the end – you’re still testing.
