Hamburg TV presenter Markus Lanz has created a successful show with the program of the same name on the ZDF evening programme. Here we always list shortly before the show who his guests are and when the show will be broadcast.
For many TV viewers, he is the nation’s most popular political talker: Markus Lanz. In his program on ZDF, the native South Tyrolean expertly guides the conversations with the guests, some of whom are top politicians. Lanz invites you to his show three times a week.
In the second program of the week, the topics are the outbreak of monkeypox, the possible development of corona in the fall and the reform of the abortion law. Markus Lanz invited four guests again on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:15 p.m.
These are the guests on Wednesday, May 25th:
- Karl LauterbachPolitician (SPD). The Federal Minister of Health speaks about the outbreak of monkeypox and the development of the corona virus in autumn.
- Ulrike Scharf, politician (CSU). The Bavarian Minister of State for Family, Labor and Social Affairs explains why she is against the planned advertising ban for abortions.
- dr Alicia Baier, gynecologist. The Doctors for Choice doctor explains why she is calling for abortion law reform.
- Mariam Lau, journalist. The “Zeit” political editor analyzes Lauterbach’s first months as Federal Minister of Health.
The program has been broadcast since June 3, 2008. Lanz has been speaking with his guests every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday since 2009. Again and again, Lanz manages to elicit an important statement from top politicians. So it’s not surprising that in the pandemic year 2020, the ratings skyrocketed.
On average, around 20 percent more people tuned in to each of his talk shows than last year, according to ZDF in Mainz. Around 1.8 million have averaged each of the more than 130 2020 editions airing late Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The 75-minute show is produced in Hamburg.
And not only did the presenter, who was born in South Tyrol, receive more viewers, the features section also suddenly discovered his love for Lanz. The industry magazine “Medium Magazin” even voted Lanz one of the journalists of the year – in the “Entertainment” category.
By the way: The politician who had the most appearances with Markus Lanz in 2020 was SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach – with 17 appearances. Only ZDF USA correspondent Elmar Theveßen is ahead of him. Virologist Melanie Brinkmann and her colleague Martin Stürmer share third place, followed by virologist Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit, “Welt” journalist Robin Alexander, physicist Dirk Brockmann, virologist Alexander Kekulé, Hamburg’s first mayor, doctor Peter Tschentscher ( SPD), and the virologist Hendrik Streeck.
