The providers of the Epic Games Store are once again knocking out one. And by one we mean three, namely games. Our highlight is clearly the most positive surprise from the enormously strong gaming year 2017: Prey. There’s also Jotun and Redout.
Do you still remember the great gaming year 2017? How many highlight releases there were in the twelve months. Just saying: Divinity: Original Sin 2, Breath of the Wild, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Super Mario Odyssey, Persona 5 and Nier: Automata. And then there were also various gems from the Bethesda Studios, such as Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus or The Evil Within 2. The biggest positive surprise for me, of course, was Prey from Arkane Studios.
Such games are rare
I was so impressed with Prey that I shared it with you in the article Prey: Complex, frustrating, and imperfect, but still awesome had to tell about it right away. I particularly liked the degree of playful freedom, in the character system, but also in finding solutions to deal with the nasty Typhons or to shoot new areas of the station. In addition, my decisions have an impact, for example on the fate of other people. Or that the game with its challenging, even sometimes bulky, complex nature clearly stands out from many other games of recent years.
In short: everyone who feels comfortable in the SciFi corner should have at least played Prey. And if you haven’t already, you can now catch up on Prey for free. All you have to do is add the game to your library via the Epic Games Store by May 19, 2022, 5:00 p.m.
All good things come in threes
The providers of the Epic Games Store are much more generous this week. You can also secure two more games for free. Jotun: Valhalla Edition is a hand-drawn action and discovery game inspired by Norse mythology. In Jotun you play as Thora, a Viking warrior who died an inglorious death and must now prove herself to the gods in order to reach Valhalla.
There’s also Redout: Enhanced Edition, a sci-fi racer that reminds us of racing game classics like F-Zero and especially Wipeout. The developers promise “the fastest game ever made.” These two games can also be activated free of charge until May 19, 2022. Next week’s free game is still a secret, however. We’ll know more in six days!
