The gaming notebook Omen 16 from HP is coming onto the market in an updated version. The most obvious change compared to the previous generation of the 16.1-inch notebook is that the case is now not only available in black but also in white. But a lot has happened under the shell as well. The manufacturer now uses Intel Alder Lake H or AMD Ryzen 6000HX processors. The Core i9-12900H and the Ryzen 9 6900HX mark the maximum in terms of performance. The Intel model is combined with Nvidia Geforce RTX cards up to the 3070 Ti, the AMD version comes with a maximum of a Radeon RX 6650M.

According to HP, an improved cooling system with a fifth heat pipe and an additional exhaust air duct ensures improved cooling of the CPU, GPU and SSD, but is said to work even quieter than before. The Omen Gaming Hub software now includes an additional Dynamic Power function that assigns the optimum electrical power to the CPU and GPU in games. The respective performance requirements and the temperature of the components are evaluated in real time.

The main memory is up to 32 GB, the PCIe Gen4 SSD can hold up to two terabytes depending on the model. The anti-glare 16.1-inch panel with narrow bezels delivers the maximum QHD resolution with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 165 Hz refresh rate. With the RGB-illuminated keyboard, colors and color effects can be individually adjusted via the Omen Gaming Hub. The 2022 model of the Omen 16 will be available in July, starting at 1,599 euros (RRP).
