With the new Mini 3 Pro, DJI not only does product maintenance, but also delivers some good improvements that could be interesting even for owners of the previous model. We already tested the DJI Mini 3 Pro.
With the Mini 3 Pro, DJI has introduced a new, lightweight drone with a high-resolution camera that, when folded, is barely larger than the palm of your hand. The new features of the Mini 3 Pro are quite impressive: the camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor can now film in 4K at 60 frames per second (fps). The previous model only achieves 30 fps here. In addition, for the first time it is possible to rotate the camera by 90 degrees – which should be of particular interest to vloggers (Instagram, TikTok, etc.). In the first practical test, the camera made a very good impression in both photo and video mode. How good the pictures actually are in detail – and where they stand in comparison to the competition – remains to be seen. Because the DJI Mini 3 Pro is currently still in our test laboratory for a detailed image quality check.
Other highlights include front, rear, bottom, and focus track obstacle sensors and a pilot assistance system that automatically detects obstacles during flight and finds a safe path around them. The new controller is also interesting because it has an integrated touch display – so you no longer have to rely on your smartphone. If you want, you can also use the controller of the predecessor.
The flight behavior of the DJI Mini 3 Pro is very good, the obstacle detection is great – this safety feature is only deactivated in sport mode. Depending on the mode, the battery lasts for around 23 minutes.
Prices and Availability
The DJI Mini 3 Pro costs around 739 euros in the basic package, or 999 euros with a high-quality RC remote control. The DJI Mini 3 Pro can be ordered now. According to the manufacturer, delivery will take place from May 17th.
Good to know: The DJI Mini 3 Pro weighs 249 grams, staying under the magic 250 gram mark. Because heavy drones require a drone driver’s license. Nevertheless, insurance and registration are also required for light drones. You can find more information at the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt.
