Dell XPS 13 and the XPS 13 2in1 presented – 5G, milled aluminum and 13 inches with 3K resolution

Dell continues the XPS portfolio and introduces the XPS 13 and the unveiling of the coming XPS 13 2-in-1 two other models in this product line. Versatility and multitasking are paramount, and Dell’s XPS 13 and XPS 13 2-in-1 aim to deliver both to the highest degree.

Both newly introduced models fit into the XPS design language and feature the fifth generation 4-sided InfinityEdge display including an improved sound for an impressive entertainment experience. Eyesafe technology intelligently manages light energy at the source, reducing harmful blue light without compromising your viewing experience. The XPS 13 is made from high-quality materials and the tinted, CNC-machined aluminum is available in muted sky and umber tones.

Dell reduced the platform or mainboard by a factor of 1.8 compared to the previous XPS 13 (2021). According to Dell, it is the smallest motherboard ever designed and equipped for a Dell PC. This engineering marvel created the architectural space needed to accommodate a wealth of new technology and to enlarge speaker enclosures. The bottom line is that an XPS 13 should be thinner and lighter, but still sound better, perform better and be durable. As the lines between work, life and study continue to blur, the XPS 13 2-in-1 reflects just that. This XPS device offers flexibility that makes it easy to switch between streaming, working, creating and sharing content, and connecting to everything else that matters.

The new XPS devices are equipped with 5G connectivity, which enables faster downloads and mobile streaming, downloading files, video content – can be used productively regardless of location. The XPS 13 2-in-1 also features eSIM technology that allows you to connect to different countries with global carriers without having to change SIM cards.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 can be switched to productivity mode by attaching the magnetic XPS Folio (case+keyboard) for a full laptop experience that offers three angle settings (100°, 112.5°, 125° ) for flexibility and flexibility. The XPS Stylus offers creativity with a natural writing and ink experience, which is suitable for both left- and right-handed users and converts the device into a state-of-the-art sketchpad. The custom XPS stylus attaches magnetically to the top for charging and is said to offer up to 50 days of run time on a full charge. Both the XPS Folio and the stylus are optional.

In the XPS 13 2in1, Dell uses an Intel Core i7-1250U with two performance cores and eight efficiency cores for twelve threads in the basic configuration. The touchscreen measures 13.3 inches, has a 3:2 format and offers a resolution of 2880×1920 pixels. Thunderbolt 4 connections are available, but Dell includes two adapters for USB-C to USB-A (3.0) and USB-C to 3.5 mm jack. The 1080p webcam on the front is ideal for practical and productive video calls and the outward-facing 4K camera allows you to take photos and edit content.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 offers two connectivity options, standard WiFi 6E3 or 5G4 with WiFi 6E. Like the XPS 13, the WiFi 6E standard model is made of machined aluminum and is available in the subtle color Blue Sky. Unique to the 5G model is the Gorilla Glass 7 back to optimize connectivity and eliminate signal interference. It is available in a darker shade of slate.

In line with reducing environmental impact, the XPS 13 and XPS 13 2-in-1 chassis are constructed from low-carbon aluminum, made from renewable energy sources including hydroelectric power, offering a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to Aluminum chassis made in traditional coal-fired power plants. The XPS 13 and XPS 13 2-in-1 are EPEAT Gold registered and are both shipped from 100% renewable or recycled materials.

Prices and Availability

The new Dell XPS 13 with Windows 11 comes with the price $999 go and that XPS 13 Developer Edition with Ubuntu costs with $949 and both are currently only available in the US and Canada. The XPS 13 2in1 should follow in the summer, but the prices will only be announced then. When the devices will come across the pond to Europe and at what price has not yet been communicated.
