Asus is renewing a number of notebooks from the Zenbook series as part of the “The Pinnacle of Performance” event. The new flagship is the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED, and the Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED, Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED and Zenbook Pro 17 are also new. The 13-inch class is served by Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED and Zenbook S 13 OLED.
Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX760)
The name says it all: The OLED in the name of the notebooks indicates the screens that are mostly used, while the name of today’s event indicates the added performance. Detailed data sheets are not yet available, but the new flagship Zenbook Pro 16X OLED (UX760) now has up to 14 cores with the Core i9-12900H instead of the previous maximum of 6 cores from Intel. And where the GeForce GTX 1650 Ti represented the maximum in the GPU area, a GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU moves in with the new model. Both components can have a combined TDP of 140 watts in performance mode, without throttling according to Asus. This is probably only the case in the standard mode, which in return should only be up to 40 dB loud.
In the area of the display, the change from 16:9 to 16:10 with more vertical space is the big innovation, so that the 4K resolution offered on the OLED panel now reaches 3,840 × 2,400 pixels. In the Zenbook Pro 16X OLED, the screen stays at 60 Hz while other models go up to 120 Hz. However, up to 550 cd/m² should also be achieved with this model, which also masters Dolby Vision, has been validated by Pantone and is certified for DisplayHDR 500 True Black.
The Zenbook Pro 16X OLED is expected to be launched in Germany in the course of the second quarter at prices starting at 2,999 euros. Other features include up to 32 GB RAM, up to 2 TB SSD, two Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, an SD Express 7.0 card reader, a 96 Wh battery, an 84 percent larger haptic touchpad, support for a stylus, a Full HD webcam with Windows Hello, WRGB lighting and the Asus Dial as a special input device for creative apps.
Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402)
The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED (UX8402) is also aimed at Creator, which combines a 14.5-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2.8K and 120 Hz with a 12.7-inch screen above the keyboard that is angled and to which windows of apps can be swapped out, such as a timeline for cutting in video programs or links in Photoshop. This notebook has a combined TDP of 85 watts for the up to Intel Core i9 12900H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU. The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED also changes to 16:10, has been validated by Pantone and covers 100 percent DCI-P3.
The Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED is scheduled to start in Germany in the third quarter at prices starting at 1,899 euros. The notebook can be equipped with up to 32 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD and offers two Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 and an SD Express 7.0 card reader. The Zenbook Pro 15 Duo OLED with Intel Core i9-12900H and GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU was announced without price or availability.
Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED (UP6502)
The new Zenbook Pro include the Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED (UP6502) and the Zenbook Pro 17 (UM6702). The flip variant is a convertible with a 15.6-inch OLED screen on a 360-degree hinge that combines 2.8K resolution with 120 Hz. Asus relies on the 12th generation Intel Core and the Intel Arc A370M as a dedicated graphics card for this notebook.
Zenbook Pro 17 (UM6702)
In 17.3 inches, the Zenbook Pro 17 (UM6702) offers 2.5K resolution on an IPS panel with 165 Hz. AMD can (up to) come into play with the Ryzen 9 6900HX in this notebook. The graphics card is again supplied by Nvidia with the GeForce RTX 3050 laptop GPU.
The Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED is scheduled to start in Germany in the third quarter of 2022 from 1,399 euros, and the Zenbook Pro 17 in the same period from 1,499 euros.
Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED (UP5302)
From the name, the early Zenbooks were originally Asus’ elegant and particularly compact notebooks. The Zenbook S 13 Flip OLED (UP5302) and Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302) will soon be in this category again. With the “Flip” in the name, one of the notebooks identifies itself as a convertible with a 360-degree hinge, which can thus be converted into a tablet. The chassis is made of a magnesium-aluminum alloy, weighs only 1.1 kg and is a maximum of 14.9 mm thick. In it, Asus installs the 12th generation Intel Core up to the i7 and a 67 Wh battery. Three Thunderbolt 4 and a microSD card reader should provide sufficient connectivity.
Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (UM5302)
A classic notebook, on the other hand, is the Zenbook S 13 OLED, whose 16:10 OLED panel offers 2.8K resolution, DisplayHDR True Black 500, 100 percent DCI-P3 and Pantone validation. However, this notebook uses up to an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U and a Radeon 680M. The housing made of a magnesium aluminum alloy weighs exactly 1 kg and is available in the colors “Ponder Blue”, “Aqua Celadon”, “Vestige Beige” and “Refined White”. Both 13-inch notebooks are scheduled to start in Germany in the third quarter from 1,999 euros.
